IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert James
Bombeck
September 7, 1927 – June 29, 2025
Robert James Bombeck, 97, of Sharpsville, passed into his eternal home on Sunday June 29th, 2025.
Robert was born in Sharon on September 7th, 1927, the son of Walter Bombeck and Emma (Bottenfield) Baldwin.
He was married to his wife, Alice Ruth McCoy, for over 25 years when she passed in 1978.
Stationed in the Philippines during WWII, he was in the last group of men in the valley to be drafted.
Robert was employed as a metallographer at Sharon Steel for over thirty years, until it closed in 1992. He enjoyed golf and fly fishing. His real passion was studying the Bible, learning Greek to better understand it. A spiritual mentor to many, he taught at numerous bible studies around the region over the years. He also had a Christian radio show "Inside View" on WKTX for many years. He bought Bibles in bulk and handed them out to everyone he met. He attended Sharpsville Methodist Church for many years and Covenant Presbyterian recently.
He is survived by his brother, Earl Bottenfield, Sharon; two sons, James (Jan), Hermitage, and Eric, Sharpsville; a granddaughter, Alyse Robinson (Tay), Brookfield; a grandson, Rev. Elija Bombeck, Mountville; and a great grandson, AJ Robinson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Walter Bombeck, Jr.; a sister, Mary (Hardman); and a son, David (1958).
An hour of reception will be held by the family from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday (7-3-25) in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 E. State St., Sharon.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held immediately following, in the church, with Rev. Elija Bombeck, officiating, and Rev. Rick Stauffer, assisting.
