Robert "Bob" Bergkessel of Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township, formerly of Federal Drive, Sharon, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7:55 p.m. Monday (2-4-13) in the home. He was 67. Mr. Bergkessel was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Sharon, a son of Joseph and Helen A. Fendya Bergkessel. As a lifelong area resident, he was a member of Sharon High School's graduating class of 1963. Bob was a familiar face at Quaker, Steak and Lube, Sharon, having worked in its kitchen for many years. He previously worked at what is now Sharon Regional Health System and the former G.C. Murphy Five and Dime Store in downtown Sharon. He was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Sharon. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" B. Wike and her husband Donald, Brookfield; a brother, Ronald J. Bergkessel, Sharon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanna Sposito; and a sister-inlaw, Marilyn K. Bergkessel. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Service: Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with the Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Hermitage, officiating.
