Obituary
Robert L. Banas of S. Pymatuning Township passed away at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
Mr. Banas was born October 30, 1946, in Sharon, a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Kubyako) Banas. A lifelong area resident, he attended Sharpsville High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Bob retired from the former Sharon Chrysler Plymouth and previously worked at Valley Mold in Masury, Ohio and the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage.
His wife of 46 years, the former Judith "Judi" P. Sobey, whom he married August 5, 1972, passed away December 9, 2018.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy R. Banas, of Transfer; and Jeffrey J. Banas and his wife Rena Donatelli and their newborn baby, Gianna Sophia Banas, all of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Carol Maykowski and her husband Robert, of Sharpsville; three brothers, twin Ronald L. Banas and his wife Lois, of Hermitage; and Michael J. Banas and Steve A. Banas, both of Sharpsville; and a brother-in-law, James Sobey, of Sharon.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be noon Thursday, April 25, 2019, in St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage, with Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor, officiating.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Hermitage.
