Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday for Rita C. Phillips of McClure Ave., Sharon who passed away peacefully in Sharon Regional Health System at 6:22 p.m. on Monday (8-24-09) of natural causes. She was 91.
She was born on July 1, 1918 in Sharon, Pa. the daughter of Peter and Lenora Booher Hess.
A lifelong city resident, she graduated from Sharon High School and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, traveling, and playing bingo.
Her husband of 73 years, Carl W. Phillips whom she married on September 26, 1935, passed away February 18th of this year.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she is survived by her sons, Richard C. Phillips and his wife Jacqueline, Sharpsville, Donald E. Phillips and his wife Darlene, The Villages, Fla., Thomas E. Phillips and his wife Joan, Brookfield, Oh., and Edward (Ted) Phillips and his wife Barbara, Erie; one sister, Lenora Roqueplot, West Middlesex, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her Aunt Mary Rice who raised her, three sisters, Dorothy Hess, Francis Cardille, Thelma Eversole, two brothers, Fred and Paul Hess.
