Rita Carrigan, 85, of Union Township passed away the morning of Saturday, July 30, 2016, at her residence.
Rita was born in New Castle on Aug. 5, 1930, to the late Joseph A. and Alice Woods Carrigan.
She was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School.
Rita was first employed at the Johnson Bronze Co. for 17 years and retired from Lark Enterprises Inc. in 2011, at the age of 80, after 39 years of service.
Rita was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary's Church.
She is survived by her sister, Leona A. Smith of New Castle; along with nine nieces and nine nephews.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were two sisters, Mary Alice Jamison and Helen Brown; five brothers, Tom, Ambrose, Charlie, Joe and Leo Carrigan; and two nephews, Tommy and Michael Carrigan.
Visitation will be private.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, officiated by the Rev. William Siple.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rita's name to Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa. 16101.
