Rita (Murray) Bateman, 55 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, was reunited with her Lord on Saturday (6-15-13). Born July 27, 1926, in Sharpsville, Rita, a lifelong Shenango Valley resident, worked at Shenango Furnace, in the time office and payroll department. Later in life, she also worked at St. Joseph's school cafeteria and in the office at what was then the F.H. Buhl Club. She was strong in her gifts of faith and her trust in God, especially as she cared for her husband Calvin and their six children throughout his 34 years of illness. Rita was a witness to others as she lived her Catholic faith, using her gifts from God from the time she was in the St. Bartholomew choir as a young girl, to her years of serving at St. Joseph's Church in Sharon, as a lector, song leader, participant in retreats, youth group leader, and more. She most treasured being able to take communion to the sick in their homes, hospitals and nursing homes. She is survived by her brother, Francis Murray and his wife Ruth; her children, Margaret Bosnjak, Patricia Kiefer, Rebecca Reese and her husband Tom, Dennis Bateman and his wife Heidi, and Anne Carenbauer and her husband Todd; a sister-in-law, Joanne Murray; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katheryne Lyden Murray; her husband; her brothers, Bill, Edward and Jack Murray; her sister, Eileen McDowell; her son, Richard Bateman; her grandson, Andrew; her granddaughter, Rachel; and her son-in-law, Michael. Calling hours: None. Service: A memorial Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday (6-18 -13) in St. Joseph Church, Sharon. Burial: Rita was a body donor. Cremains will be interred at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
