IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Toth
June 12, 1938 – March 20, 2024
Richard "Dick" Toth, 85, of Bethany, WV, formerly of the Shenango Valley and Barnesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2024.
Mr. Toth was born on June 12, 1938, in Spangler, PA, a son of the late Andrew and Lottie (Kucholick) Toth. He graduated in 1956, from Barnesboro High School and was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Rutgers University.
He began working as a teacher, before a successful career in sales at Perfect School Plans. Upon the closure of Perfect School Plans, he moved to the Shenango Valley and ran Funny Bunny Enterprises, Wheatland. Dick continued his working career as a wraparound for 20 years. At 83, his passion for teaching children inspired him to get his education license in West Virginia, and he began working as a substitute until his health ultimately no longer let him in January of 2024. Throughout his life, he touched the lives of countless children, many of whom looked at him as a lifelong role model.
Words cannot do justice to Dick and the life he lived. He truly loved life. He had many passions, reading, music and teaching, but his strongest passions were reserved for his grandchildren and meeting new people. He had a limitless ability to make friends, most who were fortunate to meet him, never forgot him.
He is survived by two daughters, Kristin Dach Cox, and her husband William, Bethany, WV, and Karin Sanders, West Middlesex; six grandchildren, Colin Dach, Melody Homewood, Melissa Mackrides, Alex Sanders, Amanda Zeljak, and Abby Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Carmen and Isabelle Zeljak.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a son, Andrew R. Toth; and a sister, Jean Mastan.
"He wasn't afraid to cry, and mourned deeply the passing of those he loved, but oh how he loved to laugh."
