Richard "Dick" Miller, Sr. of West Middlesex passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in UPMC Passavant Hospital-McCandless, Pittsburgh. He was 82.
Mr. Miller was born August 13, 1935, in Sharon, a son of Arthur and Pearl (Anderson) Miller. He was a 1955 graduate of Farrell High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Airforce. While serving in the military, he was stationed at Presque Isle, Maine, where he met the love of his life. Dick was employed more than 20 years at the former General American Trasportation Corp. (GATX), Masury, OH, retiring in 1984.
He was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church, Hermitage, where he served as a deacon and an elder. Dick was a car enthusiast and like going to car shows and cruise-ins. He was also a sports fan. He enjoyed going to football and basketball games with his family, attending his children's sporting events and drove bus for several softball teams. Dick also enjoyed spending summer vacations in Maine, with family.
His wife, the former Carolyn M. Kaler, whom he married on August 16, 1958, passed away on September 14, 2012.
Dick is survived by a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Miller, Shenango Twp.; five sons, Richard Miller, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Florida; Andrew Miller and his wife Karen, Illinois; Timothy Miller; Jerald "Jerry" Miller, both of Sharon; and Robert "Bob" Miller, Greenville; eight grandchildren, Jessie, Steven, Amy, Abby, LaVica, Randy, Kristine and MiKayla; and ten great grandchildren, Khloe, Mariah, Donovon, Max, Kylie, Aislinn, Brinley, Boru and Aoife. In addition to his family, he will be greatly missed by the family cat, Venus.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Central Christian Church, 218 Meadowbrook Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday (05/21/2018) in Central Christian Church, Hermitage.
Funeral service will be 1p.m. Monday, in the church with Rev. Lew Voisey, officiating.
Burial: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
