Richard W. “Rick” Harris, 79, of Fredonia, formerly of Transfer, passed away Thursday morning, February 5, 2026, in St. Paul Homes, Greenville.
Mr. Harris was born on December 31, 1946, in Sharon, a son of the late William and Veronica (Ondich) Harris. He was a 1964 graduate of Reynolds High School.
At 13 years old, he began working at Rowe Auto Service, Transfer. When he was 16, Rick began working at the former Martucio’s Gas Station, Hermitage. Following graduation, he worked many years as a press operator at Chicago Bridge and Iron in Greenville until its closure. He then went back to work at Rowe Auto and eventually retired from Hudson Construction. Following his retirement, he worked in maintenance at the American Scholar Group.
He married his wife of 59 years, the former Michaelene Yusko, on October 16, 1966.
A hotrod and motorcycle enthusiast, he owned many motorcycles throughout his lifetime. When his son was younger, he looked forward to spending his weekends at the motocross track. More recently, he supported his son and daughter-in-law at their truck pulls.
Rick dearly loved his grandchildren, who made countless memories that will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his wife at home; a son, William “Bud” Harris and his wife, Sheila, of Fredonia; two grandchildren, Nic Harris and Lakin McConnell and her husband, Hunter; two great-granddaughters, Brinley and Bristol McConnell; three nieces, Kelly Bell, Cheryl Goldstone and Holly Messina; and a nephew, Craig Hoovler.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Harris.
The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Jameson Hospital, St. Paul Homes, Dr. Cook and Mickey Yusko for the exceptional care given to Rick.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul’s Senior Living Community, 339 East Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (02/11/2026) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
