Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Coppage of Lackawannock Twp. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in his residence. He was 70.

Mr. Coppage was born December 21, 1946, in Sharon, a son of James and Lena (Parker) Coppage. He was a lifelong area resident and 1946 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage.

Dick served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Conflict.

Following his honorable discharge, Dick worked at the former Sharon Transformer Div. of the Westinghouse Electric Co., until the plants closing. He was later employed by Reiter Dairy, Barberton, OH; where he drove truck for many years, retiring in 1997. During his retirement, Dick drove school bus for Hermitage schools and most recently, West Middlesex schools.

He was of the Christian faith.

Dick was a member and past commander of American Legion, Post 162, Sharpsville; VFW, Post 6166, Hermitage; and the Mercer County Voiture 846.

He enjoyed hunting and watching the WVU Mountaineer football games. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed traveling to many race destinations throughout the country, especially with his wife, Mary. Family was always his top priority and he cherished the time he spent with them, particularly his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Mary Shook, whom he married May 9, 1986; three sons, Brian (Marcie) Coppage, Wichita, KS; Todd Coppage, Hubbard, OH; and Chad Welch, Sharpsville; a daughter, Heather (Donald) DeMuth, Hermitage; his mother, Lena Coppage, Hermitage; a sister, Debbie (Don) McKeever, West Middlesex; a brother, Ronald (Ruth) Coppage, Sharpsville; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandson.

Dick was preceded in death by his father, James Coppage; and an infant grandson, Cody DeMuth.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mercer County Voiture 846; c/o Randy Arnold; 59 Benita Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.

Calling hours will be noon until the time of service Saturday ( 10-14-17 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon .

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday , in the funeral home, with Rev. Anthony Kladitis, pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage.
