Richard D. Bossick, 401 Logan Ave., Sharon, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009, in the hospital of the Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 66.
Mr. Bossick was born November 19, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Daniel and Rose Salae Bossick.
He was a 1960 graduate of Sharon High School and received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in 1970.
Dick, as he was known by many, retired in 2002 from the U.S.Postal Service, Farrell, where he was a mail carrier for more than twenty-five years.
A devout catholic, he was an active member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, where he was an usher and a money counter. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Indians.
He served with the US Army for two years.
Dick was a kind and caring man with a gentle touch. He was always willing to help others and will be sadly missed by his family, neighbors and Church. Dick was an only child and never married.
He is survived by: many cousins, including Emily 'Blossom' Pannelle and her husband Pat, Hermitage; Dave Bossick, Boardman, Ohio; Emil 'Bud' Bossick and his wife Shirley, Stow, Ohio; and John Misik, Howland Township, Trumbull County, Ohio; two aunts, Violet Carpenter and Emma Ghirardi and her husband Oscar, all Brookfield; and a sister-in-law, Helen Salae, New Wilmington, PA.
Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two uncles, Rudy Carpenter and Stephen Salae; and a brother-in-law, Edward Salae.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Sacred Heart, 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009, in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with the Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage.
