Obituary

Rebecca Violet Rooney, 78, of 246 Friendship Circle, Beaver, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Sunday evening July 29, 2012 at Heritage Valley Hospital.

Rebecca was born in New Castle to the late Frank and Millie Russo Fazzone on September 20, 1933.

She was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School and a 1951 Graduate of New Castle Business College. After her graduation Rebecca was employed at Pennsylvania Power as an executive secretary.

She married John Rooney Jr. on September 14, 1957 and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1993.

She was a former member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary Church. As a resident of Friendship Ridge in Beaver, Rebecca enjoyed participating in Senior Olympics, Spelling Bees, Dancing, Movies, Bingo and especially visits by the Elvis impersonator. Her most enjoyable time was being with her family and in particular her grandchildren whom she loved so very much.

Rebecca is survived by three daughters, Erin Rooney of West Middlesex, Maureen Rooney and Colleen Rooney both of New Castle and a son Michael Rooney of New Castle. Four brothers, Edward Fazzone, Francis (Buck) Fazzone, Daniel Fazzone all of New Castle and David Fazzzone of Bradenton, Fl.; Thirteen grandchildren, Jordon Rooney, McKenzie Rooney, Nicholas Hedglin, Vincent Menichino, Giovanni Menichino, B.J. Stuble, Brienne Stuble, Brandon Stuble, Jonathon Higbee, Brittanny Higbee, Jacquelynne Sankovich, Mark DeSalvo and Matt DeSalvo; and five Great grand-children, Anthony Stuble, Raegan Stuble, Jionni Curea, Timothy Beaman and Jacob Beaman. Also Surviving are her two sisters- in- laws, Edith Fazzone of New Castle and Marguerite Rooney of Wampum along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband Rebecca was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William (Kin) Fazzone and a sister, Florence Pyle.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 for St. Mary's Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by the Rev. Frank A. Almade, Pastor.

Committal Rites and burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rebecca's name to Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, 124 N. Beaver St. New Castle, PA 16101.
