Rebecca F. 'Becka' Hughes of Austintown, formerly of Brookfield, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6:37 p.m. in Northside Medical Center. She was 56.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Sharon, PA on August 13, 1954 a daughter of William 'Bill' and Margaret 'Etta' Snyder Catterson.

Becka was a 1972 graduate of Brookfield High School. She went on to receive her certification as a Registered Nurse from St. Elizabeth's Nursing School in 1992.

Mrs. Hughes was a Registered Nurse in the Rehabilitation Unit for Greenbriar Care Center of Boardman.

Becka was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown and a former member of St. Anthony's Church of Sharon. She enjoyed swimming, reading, and needle point. Becka loved to volunteer for her grandson's kindergarten class. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson.

She is survived by, her husband Patrick Hughes, whom she married May 4, 1974. They recently celebrated 37 years of marriage; 2 daughters, Stacy and her husband Brian Baxter of Howland, OH and Kelly and her husband Harry Saunier of Cortland, OH; 3 brothers, Gary and his wife Nancy Catterson of Postville, IA. Art and his wife Virginia Catterson of Brookfield, OH. and Bill and his wife Sandy Catterson of Sherman, TX; a grandson, Jakob Baxter.

Becka was preceded in death by her parents.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Swierz, pastor of St. Joseph the Provider Church in Campbell, OH.

Internment will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
