Raymond A. 'Bo' Austin, 134 N. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in his home. He was 80.
Mr. Austin was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Sharon, a son of the late Charles and Ophelia Moyer Austin.
A lifelong Sharpsville resident, Bo was a 1949 graduate of Sharpsville High School. He retired in 1997 from Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio, where he was employed for 28 years. He previously worked for 18 years at the former Shenango Furnace, Sharpsville.
Bo served as a corporal with the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in October 1954. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Sharpsville.
An outdoorsman, Bo enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to his camp in the Allegheny Mountains. He was an avid golfer and a former member of the Packard Electric Golf League, as well as other golf leagues in the area.
Bo will be remembered by many as a kind and giving man, who cared deeply about others. He loved children, particularly his grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Peggi Brown, whom he married in 1958; two sons, Rodney C. Austin and his wife Suzanne, Flower Mound, Texas; and Tracy R. Austin and his wife Susan, Sharon; six grandchildren, Raymond, Courtney, Sara, Dustin, Jason and Maceo Austin; three brothers, Chester Austin, Farrell; Maceo Austin, New Castle; and J. Fredrick Austin, Sharpsville; three sisters-in-law, Louise Austin, North Carolina; Joanne Austin Collins, California; and Della Austin, Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents,
Bo was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Brantley and Charlotte Boone, and five brothers, Stanley, John, Roland, George and Kenneth Austin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Sharpsville, with military honors rendered by honor guards of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex; and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.
