Randy Lee "Bud" Prather, 57, of Sharon, passed away following a brief illness on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Clepper Manor, Sharon.
Bud was born on September 12, 1966, in Sharon, a son of the late Raymond and Karen (Prather) Porterfield and graduated from Sharon High School.
Bud worked as a dishwasher at several local restaurants. Earlier he was employed in the wood shop of MCAR, assembling and sanding cabinets.
An avid sports fan, he followed the Oakland Athletics, Chicago Bulls, and the San Francisco 49ers. Bud was also a skilled athlete, competing in dart leagues and playing in countless basketball and softball tournaments. His unmatched 3-point shot earned him the nickname "Buhl Club Bud" and his softball teammates called him "Bammer."
He is survived by a sister, Lisa Porterfield, Indianapolis, IN; a half-sister, Lanette Porterfield, Ohio; three nieces, Amariana Richardson, Tiasia Porterfield and Isis Richardson; a nephew, Jashawn Porterfield; two great-nephews, Damarian Richardson and Brian Henry; and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a cousin, Jacob Adam Rigby.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday (06/07/2024) in the Salvation Army, 660 Fisher Hill St., Sharon.
