Obituary

Ralph Bradley Black, Jr., of Malleable St., passed away at 8:16 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011 unexpectedly in UPMC Hamot Medical Center with his family by his side. He was 75.

Ralph was born on July 26, 1936 in Sharon, Pa., a son of Ralph Bradley Sr. and Betty Jane Wingard Black.

He attended Sharon Schools. Ralph retired in 1992 from Sharon Steel in their Coating Department after 38 years of employment.

Mr. Black was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon. Ralph also was a past member of the Sharon VFW and American Legion. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to garage sales, and working on cars. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family.

Ralph is survived by 4 children, Diane and her husband Jerry Porterfield Sr. of Ormond Beach, FL, Jane and her husband Mark Panin Sr. of Hermitage, Ralph Bradley III and his wife Lisa Black of Sharpsville., and Donna and her husband Wayne McConnell of Hermitage; 2 sisters, Norma Jean Stafford of Sharpsville and Karen Jones of Sharon; 3 brothers, Robert of Hermitage, Ronald of New Wilmington, and Mark Black of Transfer; 12 grandchildren, Jerry Jr., Chris, Scott, Jacquelyn, Mark Jr., Erika, Laura, Shawna, Haley, Robbie, Lyndsey, and Amy; 8 great grandchildren, Bryanna, Carter, Hunter, Breanna, Makayla, Alissa, Marissa, Caylee; Ralph is also survived by his life companion Irene Bauer and her children, Karen Cogley and her husband Don, Diana Smith and her husband Eric, Kathy Spencer and her husband Bill, and Tom Bauer and his son Travis.

Besides his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother James Black; a son in law Robert Kelly Sr. and a grandson of Irene's TJ.

Calling hours: 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday (8-31-11) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Thursday (9-1-11) at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Hink, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon.
