Raffaele Gargiulo, Sharon, passed away peacefully at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday (3-11-15) at home with his family at his side following an extended illness. He was 83. He was born December 4, 1931, in Torre del Greco, in the province of Naples, Italy. He was one of five children born to Francesco and Maria Palomba Gargiulo. Raffaele was educated in Italy and served in the Italian armed forces in 1948. He immigrated to the United States in 1966 at the age of 35. Raffaele worked for the former John Schuster's Steak House, Brookfield. Prior to Schuster's, he was a skilled leather worker for a small leather business in Girard, Ohio. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Parish, Farrell. Raffaele was an avid soccer fan and always rooted for both Italy and the USA. He was a loving husband and father who loved his family. His wife the former Nancy Miele, whom he married in Italy on October 18, 1962, survives at home. He also leaves his two sons, Raffaele "Ralph" Garguilo, at home; and Giancarlo Gargiulo and his girlfriend Rachael Williot, Sharpsville; a grandson, Gianni Garguilo; a sister, Eliza Imbimbo, Pescara, Italy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Tina Phillips and Carmela Ingrao; and a brother, Michael Gargiulo. His family has asked that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in his memory to please consider Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Parish 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell. Calling hours: In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Service: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday (3-16-15) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Parish, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as the celebrant.
