Rachel D. Vatavuk of Sharon passed away at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017, in Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown. She was 24.

Rachel was born December 29, 1992, in Sharon, a daughter of Richard L. and Jeanne (Dittmer) Vatavuk.

She was a 2011 graduate of West Middlesex High School where she was a member of the softball and volleyball team, and later attended Youngstown State University.

Rachel was of the Methodist faith.

She was a proud member of the West Middlesex Volunteer Fire Dept., Station 74.

She is survived by: her parents, Richard and Jeanne Vatavuk, Sharon; three brothers, Jacob Vatavuk, S. Pymatuning; Robert (Tammy) Knapp, Groton, CT; and Scott Knapp, Hermitage; maternal grandparents, Donna Montgomery and William Dittmer; and longtime boyfriend, Adam Garrett.

Rachel was preceded in death by an infant sister, Donna; and her paternal grandparents, Louis and Louise Vatavuk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday ( 8-31-17 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday ( 9-1-17 ) in the funeral home, with Rev. Lisa Hickman, Director of Pastoral Care-First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, officiating.

Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
