Rachel G. VanHoose of Sharpsville passed away peacefully at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, following an extended illness.  She was 70.

Rachel was born January 2, 1947, in Sharon, a daughter of John and Theresa Guerino Pepe.  She was a 1964 graduate of Farrell High School and a long-time member of St. Stanislaus Church, Sharon.

Rachel loved animals, particularly watching the hummingbirds at the feeders in her backyard and spending time with her cat, Mia. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed the many parties with her cousins.  She also enjoyed camping and gardening.

Surviving are a daughter, Jamie L. Vanhoose Flores, Sharon; a son, William D. Vanhoose, Brookfield, Oh; a sister, Lou Ann Nelson and her husband Michael, Hermitage; a grandson, Anthony J. Ciccone and his fiancé Alana; a granddaughter, Courtney VanHoose; a niece, Samantha Nelson and her fiancé Cory; a nephew, Shawn Nelson and his wife Nichole; two great nephews and three great nieces; and a son-in-law, Joseph P. Ciccone.  She also leaves a special friend Diane Allie and a dear cousin, Dina Robinson whom lovingly cared for her during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Special thanks to the staff of Hospitality Care Center, Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care and C.R.I. for the exceptional care they provided to Rachel.

There will be no calling hours.

Services: Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday (8/28/2017) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
