Phyllis Jean Parkany of 1700 Woodside Dr., Hermitage, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday (1-06-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 74.

Mrs. Parkany was born March 1, 1935 in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of Alfred Jay and Nellie Mae McClone Record.

She moved here as a child and was a 1953 graduate of Sharon High School.

Phyllis retired in 1997 as an Assistant Vice-President of First National Bank, Hermitage, where she was employed for 30 years.

Active in the community, she was a member of the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce; the Downtown Sharon Associates; the American Institute of Banking; and served on the board of director's for the United Way of Mercer County and the Hermitage Sewer Authority. Phyllis was also a member and past officer of the Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.); and was a member of the America Institute of Banking and the Embroiders Guild of America.

Surviving are: her husband at home, Steve Parkany, whom she married September 15, 1956; two brothers, Donald R. Record and his wife Ruth, Brookfield, Ohio; and Richard T. Record, LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Record.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Philanthropic Education Organization through the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (1-09-10) in St. Vincent DePaul Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio, with the Rev. Frank Zanni, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
