Obituary

Phyllis R. LeComte Bodnar, formerly of Riverside Apartments, New Castle, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Monday (5-3-10) in The Haven, 725 Paul St., New Castle, PA. She was 96.

Phyllis was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Blackpool, England a daughter of James and Lizzie Heath Richardson.

She immigrated to the United States as a child and settled in New Castle where she attended schools.

Phyllis retired from Union High School where she was a cafeteria worker. Turner Greenhouse in New Castle previously employed her.

Phyllis enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. A homemaker she was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Castle.

Her first husband, Armour LeComte, whom she married in 1928, passed away in 1960. Her second husband, Paul Bodnar, passed away on Feb. 1, 1991.

Surviving are: a daughter, Patricia G. Miles, New Castle; two grandchildren, John Alan Johnson in Ohio; and Sherry Lynn Badger, Greenville, PA; six great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two nephews, Jim Richardson and Chuck McCowin, both New Castle; one step-son; and 4 step-daughters.

Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents, a son, Leonard "Skip" LeComte; a sister, Gladys McCowin; a brother, John J. "Jack" Richardson; and a grandson, Daniel Lee Miles.

Private funeral service will be held Thursday (5-6-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle, with the Rev. John Yergan, pastor of First Baptist Church, New Castle, officiating. Interment: Graceland Cemetery, New Castle.
