Phyllis Fay Laverty of Sharon, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 5:55 p.m. in Sharon Regional Health Systems. She was 81. Phyllis was born on May 14, 1934 in Gauley Bridge, WV. the daughter of Ralph C. and Doris Nolan Myers. She was a graduate of Sharon High School. Mrs. Laverty was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Sharon, PA and United Telephone in Warren, OH most of her life. Mrs. Laverty was a loving homemaker and a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and spending time with high school friends' playing card. Most importantly she loved her family and going on vacation with them. Her husband Archie Laverty, whom she married May 2, 1953, passed away on October 12, 2013. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (David) Reed of Hermitage; 3 sons, James (Beth) Laverty of Cary, NC, Thomas Laverty of Raleigh, NC, and David (Carol) Laverty of Greenville; a sister Eudora Brako of Sharon; a brother, Donald Myers of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Brent, Sara, Erin, Mary (Joshua) Cagle, Daniel, Chris, Rebecca (Jerry) Hall. In addition, Phyllis is survived by a sister in law Shirley Myers. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua David Reed; 2 brothers, Lee Myers and Phyllis's twin Philip Myers. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place in America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
