A funeral service will be Wednesday for Phyllis J. Burger of Hermitage, who passed away at 7:45 a.m. Saturday (6-1-13) in Allegheny General Hospital. She was 81. Phyllis was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Sharon, a daughter of Henry and Olive Smiley Neiman. She was a graduate of Sharon High School. Following graduation, Phyllis was employed at Willson's Furniture as a credit manager for 25 years. After retiring she enjoyed baking cookies at Charlie's Specialties. Mrs. Burger was a member of Mount Lebanon Presbyterian Church, the Sons of Italy, and the Maennerchor Club. She enjoyed puzzles, reading and, earlier in life, she loved to play euchre. Most of all, Phyllis loved to spend time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years of marriage, Donald Lewis Burger, whom she married July 14, 1950; three children, Kathy Laverty and her husband Brian, Hermitage; Sandy Harmon, Sharon; and Rusty Burger and his wife Susan, West Middlesex; six grandchildren, Chris and Todd Bartel, Rebecca J. Brandt, Rustin Burger, Katie Heckathorn and Jenny Kevech; and three greatgrandchildren. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Sonny Neiman; and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Harmon. Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (6-4-13) in J.
