Peter A. Stacconi of Hermitage passed away Thursday morning, December 28, 2017, in his residence. He was 95.
Mr. Stacconi was born July 5, 1922, in Youngstown, OH, a son of Edward and Mary (Savie) Stacconi. He was a 1940 graduate of Sharpsville High School.
A proud veteran, Peter served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He retired as a carpenter in 1984 from Shenango Furnace, Sharpsville, where he worked for many years.
Peter was a long time member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed reading. Peter found great joy in listening to music and was a very talented wood worker. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with them, particularly his grandchldren.
His wife, the former Susan M. Diurba, whom he married May 3, 1952, passed away October 26, 2000.
Surviving are: a daughter, Marlene Mort and her husband Doug, Hubbard; a sister, Mary Cherhit, Sacramento, CA; three grandchildren, James (Michelle) Mort, Steven (Elizabeth) Mort, and Jessica Mort and her fiancé Javier Ginestra; a great granddaughter, Jacelyn Mort; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Peter was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Theresa Delgros; and a brother, Anthony Stacconi.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday (1-2-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Dutch Lane, Hermitage; with Rev. Richard Allen, pastor of the Church of Notre Dame, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
