A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday (4-30-12) for Peter Mitrovich, Custer-Orangeville Road, Masury. He passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness Thursday, April 26, 2012, at his residence. He was 95.
Mr. Mitrovich was born July 30, 1916 in Middleton, Ohio (Hamilton County), the son of Peter and Julia Dadasovich Mitrovich.
He attended Hartford Schools, Hartford, OH.
In his early years he worked at the former Sharon Steel Corporation's Farrell plant and later for the former General American Transportation Corporation's (GATX) Masury plant where he was a pipe fitter.
He was a member of the General American Transportation Corporation's Retiree's Club, and the Brookfield Conservation Club. Mr. Mitrovich was known as a master handyman to family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid outdoorsman.
A veteran, he served stateside with the United States Army during WWII.
His wife the former Adeline Nych, whom he married in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. Francis Bolek on Sept. 18,1937, passed away October 8, 2011. They celebrated 74 years of marriage.
He leaves his daughters, Josephine Kuzel and her husband Michael, Masury; and Lucille Mitrovich and her husband David Ress, Ph.D. , Austin, Texas; a son, Ronald and his wife Annalisa Mitrovich, Twinsburg, Ohio; a brother, Frank Mitrovich and his wife Gerda, Hubbard, two sisters, Anna Barovich, and Dora Sanitate, both ofSharpsville, two sisters in law, Mary Downing, Sharpsville; and Julia McClimans, Everett, Wash.; a brother in law, Adam Nych, New Wilmington; two grandsons, Michael Kuzel and his wife Margaret Lehn, and Dr. Robert Kuzel M. D. and his fiancé Alicia VanZile; twin granddaughters, Tonia Copsey and her husband Chad, and Nicole Centeno and her husband Armando; and two great-granddaughters, Maeve and Madan Kuzel-Lehn . He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Millie Winkle, and Jayne Christian; and two brothers, Samuel and Nicholas Mitrovich.
Calling Hours: 11a.m. until the time of service Monday (4-30-11) in the gathering space of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
