Obituary

Peter John Masotto, 89, of Hermitage, passed into glory while surrounded by family at 11:27 p.m. Sunday evening, June 8, 2025, in his home.

Mr. Masotto was born August 2, 1935, in Sharon, a son of the late Antonio and Rose (Michalski) Masotto.

Peter married the love of his life, Mary Katherine (Prezgay) Masotto, on August 7, 1954. Together they enjoyed 64 wonderful years full of traveling, visiting casinos, and caring for their family – it was always the top priority. Mary preceded him death on October 19, 2018.

Peter retired as a roller from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant in 1992, following 33 years of employment.
Additionally, Peter and his wife, Mary, worked together building and renovating houses – which also included assisting their daughters in completing their own homes. During retirement, he again worked alongside his wife at Imperial Services for 18 years.

Peter was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon. He also actively volunteered at Joshua's Haven in Sharon.

An avid outdoorsman, Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was also an exceptional baker and loved to cook, especially at family gatherings. Peter was always quick with a warm smile and a kind word, welcoming every neighbor as if they were family and cherishing the close-knit spirit of the neighborhood he called home.

Peter is survived by three daughters, Sherry Masotto Swetz (John), Hermitage, Zora Detwiler (Eric), West Middlesex, and Annette Bermudez (Domingo), Hermitage; six grandchildren who affectionately called him, "Papa," Daniel Bobbie, Mark Bobbie, Domenic Bermudez, Devin Detwiler, Rena Bermudez, and Erika Gavens; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Rose Flynn (Tom), Clark, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Peter was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Stanley Masotto; and two sisters, Anna Marie Masotto and Victoria Pisano.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Anthony's Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146; or Joshua's Haven, 1230 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA, 16146.
