Peter Fuchs, 89, of Hermitage passed away Saturday morning, July 8, 2023, in Countryside at the Elmwood, Hubbard, OH.

Mr. Fuchs was born May 10, 1934, in Simonsfield, Ukraine a son of the late Nikodemus and Alma (Seicho) Fuchs.  He immigrated from Germany and came to the United States at the age of 17, settling in Farrell, PA.

As a young man, he started working at Sharon Steel.  Later, as a self-taught carpenter, he started his own company, Peter Fuchs & Son Builders.  Peter, designed and custom-built homes throughout the Shenango Valley.

In 1989, he married Barbara Bristol.  Together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage.

Peter enjoyed woodworking, yardwork, playing accordion and dancing to polka music.  Much of his free time was spent at the lake.  He was an avid boater and water skier and enjoyed snowmobiling during the winter.  Peter liked taking walks at Linden Point with his Miniature Schnauzer, Heidi and attending his bowling league at Sunset Lanes.  Most of all, he loved his family and cherished the time they were able to spend together.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Rosalinda Thomas, Niles, OH; two sons, Michael Fuchs (Courtney), and Peter Fuchs (Diane), both of West Middlesex; a stepdaughter, Andrea Rader (Joe), Fredericksburg, VA; and stepson, Nicholas Mehelic (Ann), Hudson, OH; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Bianco and Vallentina Cunningham; a brother, Nikodemus Fuchs Jr; and a son-in-law, Gary Thomas.

The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charles D'Auria for the excellent care and compassion over the many years caring for Peter and the staff at Countryside at the Elmwood for all they did over the last several months to comfort him in his time of need.
