Margarite L. "Peggy" Baron, 97, of Hermitage, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Baron was born December 16, 1924, in Sharpsville, a daughter of the late Samuel and Angela Marie (Iacino) Campanga, Sr. She was a 1943 graduate of Farrell High School. After graduation, she worked at Westinghouse while attending Willy Dye's Beauty School, where she received her cosmetology license. She loved jewelry, and worked at her cousin Joes, Wengler Jewelry store and also at J.C. Penney's fine jewelry department in Palm Springs, CA. Peggy attended Temple University, Philadelphia, PA,and received her LPN license while graduating with the second highest GPA in her class of 150. After receiving her nursing degree, Peggy worked as a private duty nurse at The Betty Ford Medical Center, The Eisenhower Medical Center, both of Rancho Mirage, CA, and Alpha Nursing, Palm Springs, CA.
A devout Catholic, Peggy read the Bible and prayed the rosary daily. She was active in the Church of Notre Dame where she was a long time member. Peggy was an assistant for the Notre Dame Religious Ed. CCD Kindergarten class, a camp counselor for Fun in the Sun Summer Camp, and a faithful adorer for Adoration at the Church of Notre Dame.
She was involved with many organizations. Peggy was past President of the Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital Guild, an American Red Cross volunteer, a lifetime member of the Democratic Party serving as past Democratic committee Chair Women, a member of the Sons of Italy in California and Pennsylvania. She was also a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout leader.
Peggy had a gifted voice. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group in Palm Spring, CA. and Hubbard, OH. She sang in the St. Ann's Church choir, and was a singer with the Benny Jones Band at Ft. Reynolds with the USO band. Peggy also sang with many other big bands in the Shenango Valley area.
Peggy cherished her life, family and friends, always placing God first. She loved singing, dancing and traveling. Peggy enjoyed picnics at Buhl Park and was well known for her Halloween and Cocktail parties. She was always up for going out for coffee and lunch. Most of all, Peggy loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She truly was one "Lucky Lady." Peggy's motto that she lived by was, "be kind to one another and turn the other cheek."
Peggy is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn Eubanks (David), New Smyrna Beach, FL,and Renee' Wygant, Hermitage; a son, Alan Baron (Brenda), Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, Julie Bird (Andy), Jawnie Brudek (Tim), Katie Bell (Dustin), Serena Serafin-Virgil (Ricky Vigil), Wendy Frank (Andy), Jacquie Young, and Aaron Wygant; nine great-grandchildren, Maddie and Carson Brudek, Ashton, Rachel, Jeremiah and Corbin Bird, Davidson and Daisy Bell, and River Frank; a niece Candi Beal; two nephews, Bob and Jay Campagna; and many dear cousins.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husbands, John "Jack" Suchanek; and Dr. Henry J. Baron; a brother, Samuel Campanga, Jr; and a nephew, Mark Campagna.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, (11/21/2022) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, celebrating. Online condolences can be sent to the family at
