Obituary

A memorial service to be held Wednesday (6-26-13) for Pauline Thomas of Hermitage, who passed away at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 85. Mrs. Thomas was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Carroll, N.Y., a daughter of Paul and Alice Lewis Leach. She was a graduate of DuBois (Pa.) High School. She enjoyed attending high school reunions with her husband. Pauline was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharpsville. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association, bowling in numerous leagues throughout the valley. She was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends on many bus tours. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, Gale Thomas, whom she married April 21, 1951, and with whom she recently celebrated 62 years of marriage; three sons, Edward and his wife Joyce Thomas, Hermitage; James Thomas, Lakeland, Fla.; and Bill and his wife Dawn Thomas, Pittsburgh; two daughters, Patricia Bobbie, Hermitage; and Darlene Harper, Mountain View, Calif.; three sisters, Shirley Fideli, Altoona, Pa.; and Marge and her husband Joe Frano; and Frances Hand, all of DuBois; 12 grandchildren, Tami, Dennis, Ana, Sheri, Jenny, Missy, Ryan, Rachel, Chelsie, Sean, Jared, and Kyle; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul and George Leach. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday (6-26-13) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Philip Chalfant of First Presbyterian Church, Sharpsville, officiating. Inurnment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
