Obituary
Pauline A. Stratter, a former longtime resident of Sharon, passed away at 12:56 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, in Nugent's CCRC, Hermitage, where she was a resident for nearly four years.
She was 93.
Mrs. Stratter was born July 8, 1925, in Jerome, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Christine (Melnik) Granatosky. She grew up in the Patagonia section of Hermitage and was a 1943 graduate of Hickory High School.
Pauline worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation during WW II and at the former Isaly's in Wheatland during the 1960's. She later was employed by J.C. Penney, Hermitage, and Valley View Department Store, Brookfield. Pauline was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, and St. John XXIII Home Auxiliary, Hermitage. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Sharon and a member of the local chapter of the AARP.
Pauline was a member of the "Bowlerettes" at Sunset Lanes in Farrell and the Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf League at the VFW Golf Course in Hermitage. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of many card clubs throughout her lifetime.
Her husband, William M. Stratter, whom she married October 20, 1948, passed away December 10, 1993.
Surviving are: two sons, William P. Stratter and David C. Stratter, both of Sharon; and two daughters, Judith "Judi" A. Myers and her husband Robert, North East (Erie County), Pa.; and Jeanne A. Stratter, of Sharon. She also leaves a brother, Michael Granatosky and his wife Margaret "Marge," of Farrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by five sisters, Victoria Zagata, Josephine Granatosky, Katherine Laska, Mary Schab and Ann Jasinski; and three brothers, Stephen, Joseph and John Granatosky.
The family would like to thank the staff of Nugent's CCRC for their exceptional care, particularly Rick, John, Chad, Nikki and Tracey; and Three Rivers Hospice for their comforting words.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148; or to the Community Library of the Shenango Valley, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
There are no calling hours.
A private Mass of Christian burial was held in St. Rose Cemetery chapel, Hermitage, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
