Obituary

Mass of Christian burial is Wednesday for Pauline A. Marks of Farrell. She passed away after a brief illness at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, in St. Paul's, West Salem Township, where she was a resident for the past six weeks. She was 95. Mrs. Marks was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Farrell, a daughter of Jerome and Mary (Perry) Lipani. She moved to Greenville as a child and was a graduate of the former Penn High School. She was employed at the former Murphy's five and ten store in downtown Greenville prior to her marriage. Pauline was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, and its Altar and Rosary Society. An exceptional homemaker, she took great pride in her family and home. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, music, playing cards and board games with her grandchildren, and was an accomplished seamstress. Pauline also liked traveling by motor coach to different destinations with her sister and playing bingo. Her husband, Carl A. Marks, whom she married Sept. 9, 1944, passed away April 24, 1989. Surviving are: three daughters, Carol A. Baker and her husband Charles, Hermitage; Mary Rose Marks, with whom she made her home; and Donna M. Ellis-Buckley and her husband Edward, Farrell; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Tina DeJulia and her husband Joseph, Sharpsville; a brother, Jerome Lipani, Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Cimoric and her husband Thomas; and Amy Marks, all Farrell; a brother-in-law, William Marks, a resident at John XXIII Home, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frances Lovetri; and two brothers, John and Angelo Lipani. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (4-7-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (4-8-15) in Our Lady of Fatima- St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Anthony Cemetery, Hermitage.
