Paul E. 'Skip' Walton, Jr., 171 Helen Ave., Niles, Ohio, formerly of Sharon, passed away at 2 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the intensive care unit of St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, Ohio after a brief illness. He was 67.
Mr. Walton was born February 10, 1945 in Marfa, Texas a son of the late Paul E. Walton, Sr. and Minnie Bianco Walton.
He moved to Niles as an infant and was a 1963 graduate of Niles-McKinley High School. Skip attended Youngstown State University for a brief period before serving with the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and was employed by Penn Central Railroad in Niles from 1964 to 1969. He then worked for his families business, Valley Fabricators in Niles, from 1969 to July of 1981. Skip then attended barber school in Erie and later owned and operated the former Walton's Hair Styling in downtown Sharon from 1989 until his retirement in 2007. During the late 1990's, he returned to college and attended Penn State University, Shenango Valley Campus, where he received a bachelors of science degree in Business Administration.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Niles, Ohio. Skip was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing rounds at Yankee Run and Candywood golf courses with his buddies, Tom Steibly and Jim Mondok. He was also a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Penn State Nittany Lions.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Joan Griffith, whom he married October 16, 1999; a daughter, Jessi Vana and her husband Christopher, Greenville; three grandchildren, Caden, Chasz and Cassidy; a brother, Richard Walton and his wife Marilyn, Niles; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law and their families.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and the best dog in the world, his black lab, Abbey.
Besides his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Chuck Werner. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), www.aacr.org/.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Rev. Jeffrey J. Noble, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honor's rendered by the Sharon Honor Guard.
