Paul Wheaton, Sr., passed away at 4:10 p.m. Saturday (9-17-11) in UPMC Shenango Valley, Farrell with his family by his side, after an extended illness. He was 51.

Mr. Wheaton was born December 5, 1959, in Farrell, a son of Harvey and Geraldine Haines Wheaton.

A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of New Castle School of Trades with an Associates degree in Automotive Technology.

Mr. Wheaton was honorably discharged from the United States Army.

Paul was employed in the maintenance department at Jones Performance in West Middlesex.

He was a member of the Sharpsville American Legion. Paul enjoyed playing poker, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Steelers Fan. Most of all Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are: his wife, Robin W. Wheaton of Youngstown, whom he married May 4, 1991; 6 children, Devin Wheaton of Greenville, Paul Jr. and his wife BethAnn of Sharon, Sonny Wheaton of Youngstown, Krista Wheaton of Youngstown, Scott Wheaton of Youngstown, Wesley Wheaton of Youngstown; 3 sisters, Brenda Bostaph of Farrell, Tammy Wheaton of Hermitage, and Debra Cathcart of Hubbard; 2 brothers, Harvey A. Wheaton, Fredonia, PA and Richard Wheaton of Austintown, OH; 4 grandchildren, Brittany, Jordyn, Dylan, and Cameron; Paul is survived by his former wife and friend Linda L. Wheaton.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Wheaton.

A celebration of life and bereavement dinner will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Blue Ribbon Grille 731 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Farrell. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
