Paul Petro, Woodland Place Nursing Home, Mercer, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Monday (12-22-08) evening in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 97.
He was born on February 25, 1911 in Sharon the son of John and Mary Bacik Petro.
Paul worked for Abe Cohen Auto Parts, Inc., Sharon, for 25 years and retired in 1976. He also worked at one time for the former PIW (Petroleum Iron Works), Masury, Ohio, and at the former Tin Mill, Farrell.
He was the oldest member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon, and was a child when it was founded in 1917.
During his active years, he enjoyed both bowling and golfing.
His wife the former Elizabeth (Betty) Dresel whom he married June 28, 1941 survives at home.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Betty L. Hardell, and her husband Leonard, Tavares, Fl, Patricia K. Parker, Cortland, Ohio, two sons, Paul M. Petro and his wife Joyce, New Castle, Pa., and Michael A. Petro, Virginia Beach, Va., three sisters Suzanne Boor, Hermitage, Pa., Marie Arthur, Brookfield, Ohio, Mildred Balash Ocala, Fl., one brother, Michael Petro, Youngstown, Ohio, Three granddaughters, Jamie Hardell, and Kara and Erica Petro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Edward, two brothers, John and Andrew Petro, and a son in law Larry R. Parker.

Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
