Paul John Latsko, Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of New Castle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 2026, in Franciscan Manor, Beaver Falls, PA, where he resided for the last year.
Mr. Latsko was born September 19, 1940, in New Castle, a son of the late George and Jane (Cunningham) Latsko, and graduated from New Castle High School in 1958.
Paul honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.
As a young man, Paul worked as a butcher for Loblaws in New Castle. He then acquired licensure and worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance before accepting a sales manager position at Waldman’s Meats, also in New Castle. In 1985, Paul purchased Latsko’s Market, which he successfully operated until his retirement in 2000. During retirement, he focused on managing his investment properties and volunteered extensively in the community.
Paul was an active member of the Holy Spirit Parish of New Castle – St. Mary’s Church, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and as a member of the Parish Council. Always smiling and quick with a friendly word, he was a familiar and welcome presence at every church festival, activity, and fundraiser, gladly volunteering wherever a helping hand was needed. Paul was also a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council 512, and the Villa Maria Fourth Degree Assembly, both of New Castle.
In the early 1970’s, Paul was very active in the Jaycee’s and played an integral role in establishing their annual recital, Lawrence County Jr. Miss, which is still in existence today.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed exercising, and in more recent years, continued to walk several miles daily. Paul was a proud member of the Tennessee Squire Association, a distinction earned through his loyal friendship with Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
Paul married the love of his life, Sarah E. “Sally” (McCann) Latsko, on August 3, 1963, and his beloved wife of 62 years survives at home.
He is survived by three sons, PJ Latsko, of Beaver Falls, PA, Todd Latsko (Brenda), Elizabeth City, NC, and Drew Latsko (Renee), of Beaver Falls, PA; two sisters, Mary Lou Canas (Danny) and Jane Ann Caruso (Tom); and two brothers, John Latsko and Jerry Latsko (Ann), all of California; five grandchildren, Brendan Latsko, Tyler Latsko (Megan), Collin Latsko (fiancée, Greta Phillips), Jenna Brice (Logan), and Megan Latsko; and one great-granddaughter, Rowan Latsko.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, and George Latsko.
