Paul A. Budai, Sr., 74, of New Castle passed away with his wife, children, and grandchild by his side Saturday evening, July 13, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Paul was born June 13, 1950, in New Castle, a son of the late George and Stella (Wratny) Budai. He attended the Pittsburgh School for the Blind and completed the carpentry courses at Lawrence Co. Vo-Tech, graduating in 1968.
Paul was a member of Holy Spirit Parish of New Castle – St. Mary's Church, and formerly a longtime member of Madonna Church, Union Twp.
He was a dedicated husband, devoted father, and loving grandpa. Paul was a kind and generous man that always rooted for the "underdog," and was eager to help a friend or neighbor in need. He had an appreciation for good music and exceptional talent for carpentry, a skill he passed on to his children.
His beloved wife of 51 years, Bonnie S. (Holoman) Budai, survives at their home.
Paul is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Budai and Michelle Budai; and a son, Paul A. Budai, Jr. (Amber), all of Orange County, CA; two grandchildren, Keanu Coyle and Stella Budai; a sister, Frances Kassi; and three brothers, John Budai (Linda), Jim Budai (Debbie), and Andy Budai (Resa); two sisters-in-law, Laura and Judy Budai; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Budai and George Budai, Jr.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (7-17-24) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday (7-18-24) in Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. John Gizler, as celebrant.
