Patrick Zappa

Patrick “Pumpkin” Zappa, 80, of Sharpsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell.

Mr. Zappa was born on March 14, 1945, in Sharon, a son of the late Edmund and Dolphine (Smith) Zappa. A lifelong area resident, he attended Farrell High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, he worked at the former General American Transportation Corp (GATX). He eventually went into business for himself and founded Odd Jobs Inc., which later became Zappa Construction. A talented builder, he constructed the house in which he and his family lived. Most recently, Pumpkin owned and operated Zappa’s Bar and Grill on Main Street in Sharpsville.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 103, and the American Legion, Post 299, both in Sharon.

Pumpkin took great pride in immaculately caring for his lawn. He also enjoyed woodworking and cooking.

He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Wagner, whom he married on November 4, 1974; a daughter, Erika Bolt and her husband, Jeff, of Sharpsville; a granddaughter, Bella Zappa; two sisters, Virginia “Ginger” Shufflebarger and her husband, Earl, of Mentor, OH, and Eleanor Manning, of Sagamore Hills, OH; and two sisters-in-law, Bernie Zappa, of Hermitage; and Elaine Zappa, of Lisbon, OH.

In addition to his parents, Punkin was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Sabatino; and two brothers, Edward “Dempsey” and Louis “Butch” Zappa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

In keeping with Pumpkin’s wishes, there are no services.
