Obituary

Patrick A. Hughes of Austintown passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Hospice House, Poland, OH. He was 58.

Mr. Hughes was born in Sharon, PA on September 21, 1953 a son of Fredrick P. 'Red' and Carmel May 'Dolly' Palmer Hughes.

Patrick was a 1971 graduate of Farrell High School. He went on to receive his certification as a paramedic from Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hughes was a Paramedic, Supervisor, and Director of Marketing for Clemente Ambulance Service for the past 10 years. Previously Pat was employed through out his extensive career with American, Gold Cross, and Rural Metro Ambulance Companies. He also was previously involved with Brookfield, Girard, and Liberty Fire Departments. Pat was very passionate about being a paramedic. He loved his career and enjoyed educating people about it.

Pat was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, Tri County Marketing Association, and Howland Rotary. He enjoyed Golfing and football. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Pat loved watching his grandson Jakob in wrestling matches.

His wife, Rebecca F. 'Becka' Hughes, whom he married May 4, 1974, passed away May 9, 2011.

He is survived by, 2 daughters, Stacy and her husband Brian Baxter of Howland, OH and Kelly and her husband Harry Saunier of Cortland, OH; 1 brother, Mark and his wife Connie Hughes of Liberty, OH; a nephew Chad Hughes of Liberty, OH; a grandson, Jakob Baxter.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his wife.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146. There will also be calling hours from 11 a.m. till the time of service on Saturday in the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Msgr. John A. Zuraw, pastor of St. Rose Catholic Church, Girard, OH.

Internment will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
