No calling hours or services are scheduled for Patricia A. Gabriele of Elm Avenue, Sharon. She passed away at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday (8-22- 12) in the intensive care unit of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Gabriele, a daughter of James A. and Lorraine T. Townsend Downie, was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Cresaptown, Md.
She worked at several local businesses through the years including the first Sears and Roebuck Catalog Store on State Street in Hermitage, and the former Hills and Ames department stores, also in Hermitage. In all, Mrs. Gabriele spent more than 30 years in the retail industry.
Some of her hobbies included fishing, traveling to area casinos and working in the yard around her home. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who adored dogs and enjoyed cooking.
Her husband, Anthony Gabriele, whom she married Feb. 28, 1966, survives at home. She also leaves her two sons, Jody Gabriele, Farrell; and Anthony W. Gabriele and his wife Renee, Neshannock Township; a sister, Shirley Wooddell, Charlotte, N.C.; and two brothers, Thomas E. Downie and his wife Rosemary "Babe" Downie, North Olmstead, Ohio; and Bernard L. "Bernie" Downie and his wife Marlene, Bloomingdale, Fla.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James E. "Babe" Downie, and Jack B. Downie.
