Patricia M. Erme of Farrell passed away at 1:52 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in Summa Akron (Ohio) City Hospital.
She was 83.
Mrs. Erme was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Francis William and Marguriete (Kalagher) Winter.
She was a 1949 alumna of Sharpsville High School and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown College in 1953.
Prior to her marriage, Pat was an assistant buyer at the former McKelvey's department store in Youngstown, Ohio.
She later worked at Walden Books in the Shenango Valley Mall for 11 years, retiring in 1985.
Pat was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell.
Her husband of 53 years, Dr. William P. "Doc" Erme, whom she married August 14, 1954, passed away December 10, 2007.
Surviving are: six children, Dr. Margo Erme and her husband Mike Bandrowsky, Akron; William Erme, Jr., Middletown, CA; Nita Hughes and her husband Glenn, Greenville, SC; Kurt Erme and his wife Charita, Woodinville, WA; Scott Erme and his wife Symantha, Wadsworth, Ohio; and John Erme, Canton, OH; and ten grandchildren, Peter Bandrowsky; and Matthew, Christian, Tyler, Joshua, Jordan, Nicholas, Eric, Alyssa and Bianca Erme.
Besides her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her father-and mother-in-law, Michael and Mary Erme; and a cousin, Louise Bastecky.
Pat grew up on Hazen Road in Sharpsville across from Buhl Park.
The park was a great pleasure to her growing up as an only child.
Talking nostalgically about ice skating on Lake Julia, dancing at the casino and playing tennis would always make her smile.
A lover of books, Pat instilled that love in each of her six children.
She enjoyed trading titles and offering suggestions to customers at Walden Books.
She later continued that passion when serving on the board of the Stey-Nevant Library in Farrell.
She embraced her Irish heritage culminating in a memorable 10 day trip to Ireland.
She excelled at Italian cooking having learned from the best, Doc's mother Mary.
Christmas Eve dinners were a feast of Pat's braciole, sausage, meatballs, cavatelli, garlic bread and smelt.
She loved summer's evening on her deck with a glass of wine and friends overlooking her colorful flower garden.
She laughed often with her loving friends, Gail and Bill Shuttleworth, Mary Jane and Mike Roth, Jan and Rich Kaufman and cousin, Ruth Mlakar.
Her
