Pamela Horst

Pamela J. Scarmack Horst, of Altoona, PA, formerly of Farrell, died Thursday, January 1, 2026, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, following a lengthy illness. She was 54.

Pam was born June 11, 1971, in Tacoma, Washington, to James and Maryann (Shaver) Scarmack.

She attended Monsignore Monti Parochial School and graduated from Farrell Area High School in 1989.

Pam worked in multiple positions in the retail and manufacturing industry,

She met her husband, John Horst, and the two married on November 26, 2017.

Pam is survived by her husband, John, at home; two daughters, Robin Scarmack, of Cortland, OH, and Amber Scarmack, of Girard OH; three granddaughters, Daisy Johnson, and Aria and Callie Nepomoceno; her father, James, and step-mother Sandy, of Farrell; two brothers, James (Colinda) Scarmack, of Springfield, Missouri, and Anthony (Juli) Scarmack, of Erie, PA. Pam is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
