Obituary

Olympia S. "Lynn" Brandt passed away at 10:25 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. She had just recently turned 93.

Mrs. Brandt was born December 26, 1924, at home in Farrell, a daughter of Pasquale and Rosalie (Caputo) Missory, whom immigrated to the Shenango Valley from Italy.

She was a 1943 graduate of Farrell High School. She then worked as a clerk at the former Sharon Transformer Div. of Westinghouse Electric Corp., for ten years.

It was while participating in the Westinghouse Bowling League that Lynn met her husband, Robert E. Brandt, and they were married May 28, 1948, in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon.

A homemaker for many years, she later worked as a home care provider four years. Lynn ultimately retired from Riverside Grocery Store, Hermitage, where she worked as the bakery's head salesperson for 23 years.

A devout catholic, she was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, and former member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Lynn enjoyed being outdoors in her garden and swimming at the Buhl Club. She also enjoyed her daily prayers, reading, sewing and watching old movies. An exceptional cook, Lynn loved cooking foods of her Italian heritage, especially meatballs, which were her specialty.

Lynn was a kind hearted woman whom loved her family dearly. Raising her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

Surviving are: a daughter, Karen (Thomas) Churlik, Hermitage; a son Robert (Charlene) Brandt, Newton Falls, OH; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Churlik Hogg, Columbiana, OH; and Taylor Brandt, Newton Falls, OH.

Besides her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert Brandt; and two sisters, Mary Toriello and Janette Dogan; and four brothers, Lawrence, Anthony, Albert and Jerry Missory.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday , in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Dutch Ln., Hermitage, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, as celebrant.

Entombment: St. Rose Mausoleum.
