Olivia Maria Gonzalez of Hermitage passed away Monday afternoon, February 6, 2017, in her residence. She was 18.

Olivia was born July 15, 1998, in Aurora, CO, a daughter of Stephen and Maikki Smith Gonzalez.

She attended the former Notre Dame Parochial Grade School and Hickory High School, both Hermitage, and was currently enrolled in Cyber School.

Olivia was employed for the past three years as a server and hostess at La Isla Mexican Restaurant in Hermitage.

She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol at the Hermitage Armory and flew an airplane at age 15.

Olivia enjoyed many aspects in life, including reading, painting, drawing, nature and going on adventures. She was a free spirit and found immense peace at the ocean and deep sea fishing. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile and loved people of all walks of life.

Olivia had a natural connection to animals and felt very comfortable in their presence. Her vibrant personality will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her. May she rest eternally in peace.

Surviving are her parents, Steve and Maikki Gonzalez; a sister, Sara Nicole Gonzalez; and a brother, Charlie Edward Gonzalez, all Jamestown, Pa. She also leaves her grandparents, Estella Juhkam, Anaheim, CA; Maila Smith, Lantana, FL; and Denny C. Smith, Sharon; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, to whom she was very close.

Olivia was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ramon Gonzalez; her grandmother, Gail Theresa Smith; and her great grandmother, Bertha Kling.

Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral Mass will be noon Saturday, February 11, 2017, in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
