IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olga
Pujic
May 19, 1927 – November 15, 2022
Olga Pujic, formerly of Hermitage, PA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 15, 2022, in Liberty Health Care Center, Youngstown, OH. She was 95.
Mrs. Pujic was born on May 19, 1927, in the village of Bogdanovci, Croatia, a daughter of the late Johann and Rosalia (Sendelbach) Sonntag.
While living in Refugee Camp 121 in Haid she met her husband Vinko Pujic and they were married on June 30, 1946, and had two beautiful daughters, Melita and Anita. They immigrated to America in 1952 and with the help of a local Croatian businesswoman they bought a shoe repair shop. Olga worked with her husband Vinko waiting on customers and helping with shoe repairs. In 1963, they started Vince's Family Shoes where the tradition continues today with the new generation.
Anyone who knew her would say she was the most loving and caring individual. She put her family first and was referred to by all as the best "Baka." She made it a priority to blend her Croatian customs with American traditions. Thanksgiving became her favorite American holiday. She will be deeply missed by her family but all of her traditions will be carried on such as her delicious pogacha, bean soup, strudel, and many Croatian customs she has taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Olga was not only an active parishioner at St. Anthony's Church, Sharon, but she also participated in the West Middlesex Women's Club and Garden Club. She competed in state fairs and won many blue ribbons for her painting and floral arrangements.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, Anita (Dennis) Kerlek, of West Middlesex; four grandchildren, Melissa (Thomas) Malito, of Girard, Paul Dzaja, of Hubbard, Joshua (Bonnie) Kerlek, of Hermitage, and Brett (Lisa) Kerlek, of Sharon; 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic, Madison and Mia Malito, Nolan, Ellison, Vinko, Rozalia, Klara, Ryland, Avarie and Arianna Kerlek.
In addition to her parents, Olga was preceded in death by her husband Vinko Pujic, a daughter, Melita Pujic Dzaja, son in law, Paul Dzaja, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Martin Schumacher.
The family would like to thank Liberty Arms and Liberty Health Care for their love, support and care of Olga over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Anthony's Church, 804 Idaho Street Sharon, PA 16146
