June 3, 1930 – February 10, 2016
Olga Wilson Nared, 85, of Lancaster, California went home to be with Almighty God on February 10, 2016 in Palmdale, California. She was born in New Castle on June 3, 1930 to the late Walter E. Wilson Sr. and Julia Lockwood Wilson.
Olga was an honor graduate from New Castle High School in June 1948. She received a B.S. degree from Duquesne University in 1953.
Olga retired from the Department of Public Welfare as an administrator I after 30 years of service. She was a lifelong resident of New Castle.
Olga served on the Lawrence County Mental Health Retardation Advisory Board for many years. She also served on the Board of the Lawrence County Head Start Board as a Vice President.
She served as Past Matron and Treasurer of Oziel Chapter 41 of the Eastern Stars. Olga was a member of IBPOE of West Daughter Elks, Youngstown, Ohio, Buckeye Elks as an Assistant Daughter Ruler.
She also belonged to the Duquesne University Alumni Assn., the Ne-Ca-Hi Girls of 48, and served as past president and treasurer of Quota International Club of New Castle.
Olga was a devout member of St. Mary's Church and belonged to the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild of the church.
Survivors include a son Walter J. Nared of Lancaster, CA. a beloved grandson, BretN. Nared of Calif.: A brother Walter E. Wilson Jr. of Philadelphia; nephews Alan L. Wilson, his wife Eva and Sons Matthew, Andrew, Evan and Justin of Philadelphia; Nephew, Walter J. Wilson and his wife Christine and daughter Natalie of Winter Springs, Fl.
A special thank you to O. Payne, A. Antonio, I. Taylor, K. Abraham, R. Hutton, D. Cleveland, C. Smith, D. Ligunas, J. Cossio and all members of the Diggs Family. Also a special thanks to all of Olga's Friends and former Co-workers in New Castle and California.
Besides her parents, Olga is preceded in death by a son Kenneth L. Nared, a brother James B. Wilson and her daughter- in-law, Liana Diggs Nared.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday (3-5-16) from 1 to 3 P.M. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St.
A Blessing service will be conducted in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. by the Rev. James Downs.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
