Norman L. Robinson, 94, of Edison Manor, formerly of North Mercer Street, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Jameson Hospital.
Mr. Robinson was born on Nov. 6, 1921, in New Castle, a son of the late Harry and Margaret Teets Robinson.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School.
Norman worked on the plating line at the Johnson Bronze Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1983. Following retirement, he worked for a few years at Fisher Big Wheel.
In his youth, Norm was a talented ball player who truly loved the game of baseball. He also enjoyed playing golf.
He was a veteran of the Army and served in the European Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars.
His wife, the former Catherine Elizabeth Logue, passed away on May 21, 1986.
He is survived by a daughter, Maureen Welesko and her husband, Jack, of State College, Pennsylvania; a son, Michael D. Robinson and his wife, Jeryl, of New Castle; four grandchildren, Brian and Kristine Robinson, Kylee Robinson Ackman and Jeffrey Welesko; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Robinson.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St.
A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis Bupp will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard, prior to the service.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
