Obituary

Nora Regina Sullivan, 77, of New Castle passed away the evening of Feb. 1, 2015, in Jameson Hospital. Nora was born July 11, 1937, in the Bronx, N.Y. She was a daughter of James and Josephine (Dalton) Sullivan. She was a 1955 alumna of Cathedral High School in Manhattan, N.Y., and graduated from the Grace Institute in New York City. Nora moved to New Castle in the early 1960s and graduated from the former New Castle Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She returned to New York and earned her bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, N.Y. Nora's journey as a nurse began at the Lebanon Hospital in the Bronx. She then became a nursing supervisor at the Parkway Hospital, Queens, N.Y. She concluded her career as a nursing adviser at I-Pro in Lake Success, N.Y. She moved back to New Castle following her retirement. Nora was an active member of St. Camillus Church, New Castle, and its Stewardship of Ministry. An accomplished seamstress and crocheter, Nora left a legacy of love for her entire family through her needlework. She also enjoyed painting and pottery and took several classes at the Hoyt Institute. Surviving are four sisters, Mary Stanton of Trinity, Fla., Josephine Burris of New Castle and Angela Rogers and Patricia Finlay, both Flushing, N.Y.; two brothers, James Sullivan of Airmont, N.Y., and Eugene Sullivan and his wife, Pam, of New City, N.Y.; 20 nieces and nephews; and 41 great-nieces and great-nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Camillus Church, 324 W. Englewood Ave., with the Rev. Michael Peck, pastor, as celebrant.
