Norma Clara Oliver, formerly of Hadley Dr., Sharon, passed away of natural causes at 5:40 p.m. Friday (7-22-11) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 88.
Mrs. Oliver was born May 26, 1923 in Cliffside, NJ a daughter of Joseph and Clara Ferrugari Feliu.
She was a 1941 graduate of Long Branch (NJ) High School and was employed during WW II as a secretary for the military in Sandy Hook, NJ and also for the US Postal Service. She was also a bank teller in Sea Bright, NJ; a cafeteria worker for the Sharon City School District; and a crossing guard for the city of Sharon at the intersection of Thornton and Hall Streets.
Norma was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart and the North Sharon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, both Sharon; and was active as a democratic committee woman for many years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, dancing and traveling with her husband, who affectionately called her Normie. She was an avid reader, told many Jersey Shore stories and assisted in many Sharon High School Touchdown Club events. She and her husband were the mysterious decorators of the Christmas tree on the grass island in front of the former Sharon Country Club.
Her husband, Samuel F. Oliver, whom she married July 15, 1945 in Sea Bright, NJ, passed away December 15, 2006.
Surviving are: two daughters, Donna Oliver, Hermitage; and Debbie Morrin and her husband Thomas, Sharpsville; a son, Jim Oliver and his wife Julie, Carmel, Indiana; seven grandchildren whom she enjoyed and loved caring for, Craig Wright and his wife Susan; Matt, Michael, Nick and Joey Oliver; and Jared and Kara Morrin; two great grandchildren, Josh and Cory Wright; and a sister, Joan McCauley, Tinton Falls, NJ.
Besides her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Bonnie Wright; a sister, Claire Brown; and a brother, James Feliu.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday (7-26-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday (7-26-11) in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
