Norma Jean Conlon, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday (10-2-12) in Homewood at Crumbland Farms in Frederick MD following a stroke. She was 85. Mrs. Conlon was born May 31, 1927 in Conneautville, PA a daughter of Frank and Mildred Shannon Mead. A Sharon resident for 70 years, she was a member of the Sharon High Schools graduating class of 1946, where she found a passion for the band and orchestra. Jean worked in the Bell Telephone offices in Sharon before she started her family. She married her true love "Jack" on October 28th, 1950 and they had 59 wonderful years together. She also worked for 20 years as a secretary with the Sharon City School District. Jean was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, where she was an active communicant. She gave of her time and talent as a soloist and was a member of the church choir. Her passion for her faith led her to help form the small groups within St Joseph's. She also served as a Eucharistic minister. She was proud to be one part of the Sharon Al-anon group for many years. In her spare time she loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards. She especially loved playing bridge and enjoyed the competition at the weekly Sharon duplicate game. Many of her friends shared the same passion and together their club enjoyed a monthly tournament for more than 30 years. Surviving are: four sons, Timothy L. Conlon and his wife Mary, St. Louis, MO; Michael J. Conlon and his wife Gina, Minneapolis, MN; Patrick M. Conlon and his wife Iona, York, PA; and John F. Conlon and his wife Amy, Frederick, MD; two sisters , Jane Swartz and her husband Walter, Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida; Shirley Martwinski and her husband Tom, New Wilmington, PA; and a brother, Jack Mead and his wife Jane, BelAir, Md.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Megan, Eric, Maureen, Steven, Alec, Daniel and Julianne; and a great grandchild, Addison. Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Christopher, who passed away May 21, 2012; her husband "Jack" who passed away June 13, 2009; and two brothers.
