Nickolas W. Habarka, Sr. of Shenango Township passed away at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, in his home, after a brief illness. He was 79. Mr. Habarka was born December 10, 1935, in Shenango Township, a son of John Habarka, Sr. and Anna Kalafut Habarka. He attended West Middlesex High School and served with the Army from 1959 to 1961. Nick retired in 1997 as a bundling machine operator from Wheatland Tube Company where he was employed for 41 years. He was also a fruit and vegetable farmer and was active with the local farmers market in Sharon. Nick was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. Surviving are: his wife at the residence, the former Esther A. Rabold, whom he married June 6, 1959; a daughter, Ann Miller and her husband Charles, Shenango Township; and a grandson, Brenden Miller, who was the light of his life and helped his "Pa Pa" in the garden on weekends and after school. He also leaves a brother, Paul Habarka and his wife Rosemary, Hartford, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Good Shepherd Education Fund, P.O. Box 226, West Middlesex, PA 16159. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, in Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, with Msgr. Robert Malene, pastor, as celebrant. Immediately following the Mass, military honors will be rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, Wheatland American Legion and Farrell VFW Honor Guard. Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
